I’ve been busy knitting and designing, but there’s so much math sometimes! When I create a design, I always start by making it to fit myself. But I’m definitely not ‘standard’ size - there is no such thing as a standard size. After I make the thing for myself, I have to work (sometimes harder than others) to make it fit multiple sizes. You may notice as we go that I tend to make items that don’t need a lot of sizing - shawls, scarves, hats.
I’ve got a pair of handwarmers (the Beau Sleeves) that are waiting for more math, because I have small hands and arms, so I need to size up, but maintain the patterning. And I've got a hat that I created for a large head, and I need to revise it to make it fit small and medium heads (at least, if not more sizes). I’m also working on a shawl based on Caduceus from Critical Role, and socks based on Mollymauk, but both of those require charts, which is proving to be more of a challenge than I had expected.
But the Magic Handwarmers were released today, and if you head over to Ravelry, they’ll be on sale for the rest of the day and tomorrow! These are based on the pattern that I use for myself - I’ve got a condition that requires me to keep my hands warm, and hand-knit warmers are my favourite way to do that. They’re a quick knit - a pair takes me about 3 hours to complete, so it’s easily a weekend project. By changing the length or color, you can have a base that works for any cosplay that requires fingerless hand coverings. I’ve worn some under leather to reduce chafing, and it works well for me (your mileage may vary, of course).
